Indian T20 League 2020

The current season of the Indian T20 league is the thirteenth season since its arrival in 2007. The ongoing T20 league was earlier supposed to happen on March 29th, 2020 but due to the global pandemic which had an adverse effect all over the world, the league was eventually postponed until April 15. But then the whole nation came under a lockdown situation commenced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi due to which BCCI once again suspended the tournament, this time however indefinitely.

During the lockdown period, many Covid-free nations came forward and offered to host the Indian T20 league. However, it was not until August 2nd that is when BCCI finally announced that the Indian Twenty Twenty League 2020 will take place in the United Arab Emirates from 19th September 2020 to 10th November 2020. The Government of India gave a green light to the proposal on 10th August 2020

Some extremely serious rules were issued to players regarding the pandemic.

• Players are not allowed to use saliva in order to shine the ball.
• Matches are to be played without an audience, although now we have a virtual audience to cheer our players.
• Captains are also not allowed to shake hands after the toss.
• If any player tests COVID+, he will be replaced immediately.

The season has seen many big names out of the league. The most prominent names were Yuvraj Singh and Chris Lynn. Last year the most expensive Indian player Jaydev Unadkat was also released this year. R Ashwin who was earlier the captain of Kings XI Punjab is now bowling explicitly for Delhi Capitals. Pat Cummins became the highest-paid player in the Indian T20 league 2020 for Kolkata.
